Give Cumberland Minor Hockey a Name

During the 2010-2011 season, the Cumberland Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) Executive Board agreed that during the upcoming season, they would reach out to the membership in order to find a name for house league hockey in Cumberland.

This decision to name the association is being seen as a milestone that is well over due.  As you know,  many of the other local minor hockey associations, both house league and competitive, within the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (ODMHA) have names, and we believe it is time for District 12 as well.

Through a name, an association can be recognized, branded, and develop a sense of pride!

Timeline for Naming Campaign

1.       As of now, the survey is open to submit your name suggestion.  To access the survey Click Here

2.       Submissions:

a.       There is no limit to the number of suggestions a member can submit.

b.      Criteria has been established as follows:

                                                               i.      No NHL team name;

                                                             ii.      No recognized Ottawa sports team or association name (any sport); and

                                                            iii.      We are looking for a unique name.

3.       The submission period will be from now to October 31^st

4.       During the first week of November, the CMHA Executive Board members will each receive a list of all suggestions. The list provided will only be of the name submitted and will not have the individuals name attached to the submission. From here, each board member will recommend a MAXIMUM of ten names from the list.

5.       The list of finalists will be posted on the CMHA website on November 13^th.

6.       A Special General Meeting will be held Wednesday November 23^rd in the Sir Wilfrid Laurier cafeteria  to vote on the new name for CMHA – HL.

a.       Voting will start with all finalists

b.      After each vote, the bottom 50% of finalists will be dropped.

c.       This will continue until one finalist is left.

d.      On November 24^th,  the finalist and new name will be published on the CMHA website.

7.       Starting December 1^st the format for the second phase to select the artwork that will align with the new name will be outlined.
