Mandatory Parent Training

Mandatory ‘Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents’ Program

Effective since the 2015/2016 season, Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) mandated that at least one parent or guardian per household for participants at the IP and Novice levels, and those parents or guardians of new registrants up to midget level, must take the on-line "Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents" (RIS-Parent)Program.

A parent/guardian from each household MUST TAKE RIS-Parent BEFORE their player begins their FIRST REGULAR SEASON session (for IP participants) or game (for Novice and above).  Once taken, its good for life.

The implementation of this program will foster and develop a culture of mutual respect in HEO and serve as an effective risk management tool, as well as contributing to the overall safety and enjoyment of the game by all participants. A platform of proactive education for each of the stakeholders that have a direct impact on the youth in our game. The parents/guardians of our players represent a key step towards achieving the HEO vision.

The completion of the "Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents" Program for at least one parent/guardian of each household of a registered player in IP, Novice or new to the Branch shall be a condition of the player’s eligibility for participation.
