Dukes - Peewee A3 - Tournament Champions

It was a battle for the books.  Cumberland Dukes Peewee A1 vs A3 in the Peewee A final of the 2^nd Annual Cumberland Dukes House League Showdown.

Both teams played an outstanding game.  A1 opened the scoring in the first with two quick goals in less than a minute and at the period A1 lead by a score of 2-0.  In the second period A3 scored to bring the game within a goal.  At the midway point of the third period A1 scored again to take a 3-1 lead.  With just over three minutes left in the game, A3 faced the seemingly impossible task of scoring two goals in a very short amount of time.  With time winding down, A3 pressed forward and with 2:50 left on the clock scored to bring the game within one goal.  At the 1:30 mark, A3 pulled their goalie in an attempt to try and tie the game and send it into overtime.  The extra attacker payed off and with just 45 seconds left in the game they tied it up.

Neither the three minutes of 4 on 4 nor three minutes of 3 on 3 solved anything.  The game inevitably went to a shootout where A3 scored on two attempts while stopping both of A1’s shooters.

What a fabulous game by both teams!  Fans on both sides were kept on the edge of their seats.
