WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NOW AS A PLAYER, COACH OR TEAM STAFF MEMBER:

Step 1: Please read the HEO Concussion Code of Conduct and applicable Concussion Resource Guide that pertains to the age group of the player OR that pertains to the age group of the players you are coaching or volunteering with as Team Staff.

Concussion Resource Guide - Ages 11 - 14
Concussion Resource Guide - Ages 15 and up

Step 2: Once you have reviewed the above information, the participant must fill out the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM and submit it electronically. One form per participant.

Step 3: Ensure this form is submitted prior to the participant taking part in any on-ice activities - including tryouts and evaluations.

What is Rowan’s Law?
Rowan Stringer was a 17-year old Ottawa varsity rugby player who died from sustaining multiple concussions resulting in a catastrophic swelling of the brain – second impact syndrome.  On March 7, 2018, Ontario passed Rowan's Law (Concussion Safety), 2018 and related amendments to the Education Act.

Additional Information
It is important to understand that this is not just applicable to hockey associations, but rather applies to all Sport Organizations, schools, programs and businesses in the province and for whom are REQUIRED under law (Ontario Regulation 161/19) from the Government of Ontario to immediately implement.  

As such, all HEO Participants are required to confirm that they have reviewed the Concussion Awareness Resources also available at www.Ontario.ca/concussions prior to that participant registering/participating in a sport.
